Roadkill Art

On a roadtrip a few weeks ago I stopped and picked up a kereru that had been hit by a car. It was dead but the colours were still beautiful so I brought it home and took some photos of it. I think the red velvet really transforms the dead bird into something really ...umm.... well, make up your own mind. Thats what art is about.
I'm a great believer in recycling so after I photographed it I put the pigeon out in the next paddock to be eaten by a local Harrier.

Such a beautiful bird! So sad to see it's dead but so lovely to see it given one last tribute here. I like your road kill art:)

Hey Mandy, I totally love your Kereru portait (the 1st one) How'd you get the deepth in the crimson/red background.
From the Dante!

Dante - use red velvet. It photographs amazingly! You get great effects with velvet because it doesn't reflect light. Not just red either. How you getting on with your photos? I found a little goldfinch yesterday but it wasn't very fresh. A bit whiffy in fact so had to ditch it.

Thank you Nigel Gnome. I should have given it to you to bury under your lemon tree. Good compost :)
